Philippines: The top Smartphone users in Southeast Asia

Philippines SmartPhone MarketThe Philippines is one of the rapidly growing smartphones users in the world. As a matter of fact, it ranked number one in Southeast Asia with a 326% increase over the last year. Next to Philippines are Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Feature phones are still popular, but smartphones are continuously increasing in sales.

On a research conducted, it has been found out that one every four Filipinos use smartphones. With smartphones even made affordable for everyone, it has made Filipinos even more interested to using smartphones compared to other featured phones. As of May 2012, there has been a total of 1.7 million smartphones sold in the Philippines alone.

Nowadays, a lot of phone manufacturers’ intent to launch low end smartphones so that more consumers would be able to enjoy the wonders of smartphones. Because of the low end smartphones, it has been perceived that the sales would be doubled or tripled in the next coming months. A research was also conducted and it is believed that global smartphones shipment will prosper in 2013. As a matter of fact, smartphones are perceived to be dominant mobile phones and are forecasted to grow 54% of the total mobile phone market. In other words, there is a higher potential for smartphones growth in the year 2013.

Because of the smartphones craze, a lot of telecommunication companies in the Philippines are offering bundled smartphones postpaid plans. Globe Telecom and Smart Communications offer enticing bundled packaged for as low as P299 a month. You would be able to get the latest smartphones and other android phones. As a matter of fact, most telecommunication companies in the Philippines carry smartphones devices throughout its postpaid plans. High end smartphones can be paid for a total of 24-month period. It basically depends on the policy of the telecommunication company.
